About Our School
Sunny Hill Preschool was founded as a non-profit organization in 1958 by the Sudbury United Methodist Church, and we will celebrate our fiftieth anniversary in 2008. While the school is sponsored by the church, religion is not a part of the curriculum. The school offers a play-based program that combines preparation for kindergarten with an emphasis on a child’s social and emotional development. The focus of the programs at Sunny Hill Preschool is on the whole child’s social, emotional, cognitive and physical development. Teachers develop classroom themes and activities that integrate sensory experiences, pre-reading and pre-math concepts, science, social studies, art, social and self-help skills.
The mission of the school is to make a high quality, affordable, nurturing and supportive early childhood learning environment available to families in Sudbury and the surrounding communities. As one of the very first programs in the Sudbury area, it also served as model of excellence in early childhood education. The daily operations of the school are overseen by a full-time Director. An appointed committee of church members is responsible for policy making and various functions related to the operation of the school.
